Entity continuity is the persistence of an identifiable organization, brand, product, publication, or service through time despite changes in ownership, format, channel, or business model.

Scope

Continuity does not require every product, office, domain, or edition to remain unchanged. It requires a traceable identity relationship across time.

Continuity Signals

Official identity statements, operating domains, legal or corporate records, product migration notices, editorial mastheads, and documented successor relationships can support continuity.

Non-Continuity

A name reused by an unrelated entity, an abandoned domain acquired by another party, or a fan-maintained page does not by itself establish continuity.

Archive Use

The concept prevents false defunct labels when only one layer of an entity has ended.
