KNOWLEDGE SYSTEM
Archival Confidence
Archival confidence expresses how strongly the available evidence supports an identity, date, status, event, or relationship claim.
High Confidence
Direct primary evidence and credible corroboration agree, the entity identity is unambiguous, and the evidence is current enough for the claim.
Medium Confidence
The evidence is credible but incomplete, indirect, dated, or missing one important corroborating layer.
Low Confidence
The record relies on inference, generic industry patterns, unattributed claims, uncertain identity matching, or inaccessible sources.
Rule
Confidence applies to claims, not to the prestige of an entity. It must never be used to disguise uncertainty.
